Scene 10 Flashcards
Scene change
And that’s the story of Peter Rabbit. What’d you think?
ANNIE
I positively loved it, Beatrix!
Really? You really did?
ANNIE
Yes, of course I did! You’re such a creative girl. I just know that these stories will get published some day, and you’ll be inspiring kids all over the world.
Oh no, I don’t think I could get published. I mean, I’m just a girl. I never see any published female authors.
ANNIE
Beatrix, your stories and illustrations are marvelous. Anyone would be a fool not to publish you.
Maybe… I hope I’ll be able to. But my mother will never allow me. Speaking of which…
ANNIE
Yes?
You said you needed to read these stories in order to measure my skill level in writing…
ANNIE
I did say that, didn’t I?
Yes.
ANNIE
(teasing)
I don’t know, Beatrix… I think I’ll have to inform your mother that you’ve been writing and drawing these things. In fact, I’ll take this whole sketch pad with me.
What? But… but you can’t!
ANNIE
Your mother needs to know what an extraordinary writer you are.
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for being my friend Annie!
