Explain the administration of the grip dynamometer

A
  1. adj dynamometer to 2nd joint of hand to ensure proper grip
  2. stand up straight, arm 90 deg, arm close to body
  3. gradually build up tension for 2-3 secs (do not contort body) - avoid valsalva maneuver
  4. allow 1-2 mins between trials
  5. switch hands - repeat 3x’s each hand
  6. scoring = R hand best + L hand best

  2. begin test counting the total # of push-ups (consecutive - no resting) till exhaustion, client strains forcibly or unable to maintain technique for 2 reps
