- refusing fluids/feeds

- fever
- fatigue
- sore throat
- fine rash

- splenic enlargement (later)

- yellowing eyes/skin
- abdominal/stomach pain

group A beta-haemolytic streptococci
associated with pharyngitis

6 days pre symptoms, 24 hours post antibiotic

- red rash
- red lines
- flushed face
- strawberry tongue (white then red)

- scarlet fever symptoms
- no improvement after a week
- ill again after fever improves
- contact with scarlet fever patient
- also has chickenpox
