17
Q

Kill Box

A

3 dimensional area used to facilitate the integration of joint fires (blue and purple)

18
Q

9-line

A

Do not transmit line numbers.

Units are FT and NM unless briefed.

Lines 4 (target elevation MSL), 6 (target location), and restrictions are mandatory transmisions

19
Q

Investigate

A

Verify specified element(s) of ROE, PID, CDE, and/or
coordination of forces on the referenced target/track. This implies that neither PID
nor CDE has been accomplished by the SCARC.

20
Q

Target

A

ROE, PID, coordination of forces, and commander’s guidance
requirements on the referenced target/track have been satisfied. Target/track
correlation and CDE must be accomplished prior to employing ordnance/fires.
Authorization to drop ordnance is granted once these conditions have been met.

21
Q

Smack

A

Clearance to employ ordnance/fires on surface target coordinates.
ROE, PID, CDE, coordination of forces, and commander’s guidance requirements
on the referenced target/track have been satisfied.

22
Q

SCARC

A

Strike coordination and reconnaissance coordinator

23
Q

SCC

A

Sea Combatant Commander (Z)

The SCC is an optional position which integrates ASW and SUW warfare tasks under one commander. In
addition to SUW and ASW, other warfare tasks that may be assigned to the SCC are: HEC, MIWC, SC, SOCA,
and MIO commander. When activated, the SCC plans, directs, monitors, and assesses CWC tasks in support of
the JFMCC/numbered fleet commander’s maritime support plan for sea control

The SCC is normally a destroyer squadron (DESRON) commodore for a carrier group and a senior ship
commanding officer for an amphibious task organization, (e.g., LHA/LHD/CG)

24
Q

CWC

A

Composite Warfare Commander (B)

25
Q

Surface Warfare Commander

A

SUWC (S)

He is usually the commanding officer of the CV(N)

26
Q

Undersea Warfare Commander

A

USWC (X)

The tactical DESRON commander is normally the undersea warfare commander (AX). AX is often double hatted as Helicopter Element Coordinator (HEC, see below) and Screen Coordinator (SC, see below).

27
Q

Air Defense commander

A

ADC (W)

Or air warfare commander (ADC) (W)

Normally shotgun cruiser

28
Q

Information operations warfare commander

A

IWC (Q)

29
Q

Strike Warfare Commander

A

STRIKE (P)

carrier air wing commander (CAG) is normally assigned as the air warfare commander.

30

38
Q

GBU-54 Laser JDAM

A

(LJDAM)

a multi-mode weapon that includes
guidance via GPS with coordinate refinement through laser updates. It can
be used in legacy mode as GPS only with no degradation in capability.
LJDAM is capable of hitting high speed, moving targets. Target heading
and velocity can be programmed into the weapon to generate an impact
point in front of the target. At 4.5 km, if laser energy is present, the LJDAM
will calculate new coordinates based on the movement of the laser. The
weapon will then guide to the updated lead point. If the weapon loses laser
energy it will guide on the last known coordinates.

39
Q

Hellfire Risk Estimate Distance

A

110m/361ft for a .1% probability of incapacitation (PI)

Use for CDE (collateral damage estimate); use for risk decisions for CAS (close air support) missions

Minimum safe distance from ground personnel during training 900m/2952ft
