Scapulohumeral muscles Flashcards
What are the six scapulohumeral muscles?
Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis, teres major, and deltoid mm.
What are the rotator cuff muscles?
Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis mm.
What is the function of the rotator cuff muscles?
To keep the humeral head in contact with the glenoid fossa
O- Supraspinatus m.
Supraspinous fossa
I- Supraspinatus m.
Greater tubercle of the humerus (same as infraspinatus m. and teres minor m.)
A- Supraspinatus m.
Abduction of the arm (first 15 degrees)
Inn- Supraspinatus m.
Suprascapular nerve (same as infraspinatus m.)
O- Infraspinatus m.
Infraspinous fossa
I- Infraspinatus m.
Greater tubercle of the humerus (same as supraspinatus m. and teres minor m.)
A- Infraspinatus m.
Lateral rotation of the arm (same as teres minor m.)
Inn- Infraspinatus m.
Suprascapular nerve (same as supraspinatus m.)
O- Teres minor m.
Lateral/posterior scapular surface
I- Teres minor m.
Greater tubercle (same as supraspinatus and infraspinatus)
A- Teres minor m.
Lateral rotation of the arm (same as infraspinatus m.)
Inn- Teres minor m.
Axillary nerve
Which is the anterior rotator cuff muscle?
Subscapularis m.
O- Subscpaularis m.
Subscapular fossa
I- Subscpaularis m.
Lesser tubercle
A- Subscpaularis m.
Medial rotation of the arm
Inn- Subscapularis m.
Upper and lower subscapular nn.
O- Teres major m.
Inferior/posterior scapular surface
I- Teres major m.
Crest of the lesser tubercle
A- Teres major m.
Adduction, extension and medial rotation of the arm (second swimmer muscle)
Inn- Teres major m.
Lower subscapular n.
O- Deltoid m.
Spine and acromion process of scapula, lateral third of the clavicle (same as trapezius m.)
I- Deltoid m.
Deltoid tuberosity
A- Deltoid m.
Abduction of the arm (after 15 degrees, supraspinatus m. abducts for the first 15 degrees)
Inn- Deltoid m.
Axillary nerve.
