Scanning planes Flashcards
Sagital
The imaginary line that divides the body into left and right sections
Transverse
Imaginary line that divides the body into unequal superior and inferior sections
Coronal
Devides body into unequal anterior and posterior sections
Rule 1
The top of the screen shows structures closer to the face of the transducer. Bottom shows structures further away from the transducer
Rule 2
The left screen as it is viewed corresponds to the probe marked with an indicator
Perpendicular
Straight up and down to the scanning surface
Angled
Transducer is tilted superiorily, inferiorly, right or left laterally as desired
Subcostal
Transducer is angled superiorly from just beneath the inferior costal margin
Intercostal
The transducer is positioned between the ribs
Twisting
The transducer is positioned halfway between two scan planes to produce an oblique scan plane
