Each major key has a relative minor which shares the same key signature
C majors relative minor is A minor - count down 3 semi-tones
Interval
The distance between two notes:
- C - D is a 2nd
- C - E is a 3rd
- C - F is a 4th
- C - G is a 5th
- C - A is a 6th
- C - B is a 7th
- C - C is an octave
Augmentation (Rhythm/Tempo)
Latin: meaning “increase”
A passage of music where the length of the notes are doubled:
- quaver = crotchet
- crotchet = minim
- minim = semi breve
Diminution (Rhythm/Tempo)
Latin: meaning “decrease”
A passage of music where the length of the notes used are halved:
- crotchet = quaver
- minim = crotchet
- semi breve = minim

Term for the rapid up-and-down movement of an instrument
Sometimes used to create suspense
