What makes us human?
- Human beings have freewill and are able to make decisions about right and wrong
- Humans can show love and compassion
- Humans can think and plan for the future
- Christians would say humans are unique as as they have a soul
- Christians would also say humans are unique as we are “made in the image of God”
What do Christians believe about sanctity of life?
- Genesis teaches that God created life, both human and animal, humans however were created in God’s image
- Life is sacred and holy as it is a gift from God
- God created life so it belongs to him
- God takes interest and is involved in every humans life
- It is only God who gives and can take life
- Jesus showed that all life should be valued through his teachings

What do Muslims believe about the sanctity of life?
- All life is special and is create by Allah, humans have a duty to protect it
- Each life is unique, is valuable beyond measure
- Every soul was created by Allah
- Allah has a plan for all life, written before conception
- No one has the right to take another life including their own
- In the Qur’an it is forbidden to take another life
What do humanists believe about the sanctity of life?
- They see a special value in all human life
- They do not believe that the value of life comes from a God
- They believe the central purpose of life to make themselves and other happy
- Life is not seen as sacred but worthy of the highest respect
