Sampling Technique Flashcards
They use this when the random isn’t feasible, and want more control over who they select compared to other non-probability methods, such as convenience
Quota Sampling
Not all the members of the population have a chance to participate in the study
Non-Probability Sampling
The sample are selected from the population directly because it is convenient available for the researcher
Convenience Sampling
Types of Probability Sampling
- Simple Random Sampling
- Stratified Random
Sampling - Systematic Sampling
- Cluster Sampling
Also known as the chain-referral sampling technique. It is a method for acquiring a sample that uses participants to recruit additional participants
Snowball Sampling
It is a method where the first subject that meets the inclusion criteria will be selected for the study, if the second subject also meets the criteria then he/she will also be included
Consecutive Sampling
This method gathers random selection from the entire population, where each unit has an equal chance of selection
Random Sampling
It is a process of studying the population by gathering information and analyzing the data
Sampling Technique
It also known as judgmental or authoritative sampling. It is best used when you want to focus in-depth on relatively small sample and based on the intention or the purpose of the research
Purposive Sampling
It is a method in which the researchers select the sample based on subjective judgment rather than random selection
Non-Probability Sampling
It is a method of selecting a sample from a population in which each member of the population has an equal chance of being selected
Probability Sampling
It is a technique where the researcher divides the population into multiple groups and then selects random groups with a simple random or systematic random sampling technique for data collection and unit of analysis
Cluster Sampling
What are the types of sampling technique
Probability Sampling and Non-Probability Sampling
Types of Non-Probability Sampling
- Convenience Sampling
- Purposive Sampling
- Quota Sampling
- Snowball Sampling
- Consecutive Sampling
It is a smaller set taken from a larger one to present the whole
