Q

What are the 4 methods non-probability sampling?

A
  • Accidental (relying on available subjects, good for exploratory purposes)
  • Quota sampling (Identify categories, decide how many in each, create table describing characteristics of the population)
  • Purposive = judgemental sampling (used to select samples from hard to reach populations = “deviant case sampling”)
  • Snowball sampling (sample population through networking - hard to reach populations)

Q

What are the 4 methods of probability sampling?

A
  • Simple random sampling ( choose N number of people)
  • Systematic random sampling (select every Nth person)
  • Stratified sampling (divide population into groups and take a random sample from each)
  • Cluster sampling (group population into sub groups, choose random sample, select every sampling unit within the chosen clusters –> multistage cluster sampling)
