A

When each participant has an equal chance of being selected. All names of target population where put into a random name generator and first ___ names who are generated and are willing to take part are used.

9
Q

12
Q

What is a disadvantage of stratified random sampling

A

You need to know the characteristics of ppts and you might not have access to to this info.

16
Q

What is a disadvantage of volunteer sampling

A

Can lead to a skewed sample e.g. retired people with lots of time on their hands or people with strong opinions

Ads cost money so additional cost

17
Q

What is snowball sampling

A

The research locates one ppt for the target population and that person then refers others and a sample is created

18
Q

What is an advantage of snowball sampling

A

Useful when studying taboo topics e.g. criminal or people that difficult to get in contact will like drug deals

19
Q

What is a disadvantage of snowball sampling

A

Unrepresentative sample as ppts have more similar characteristics than what is being studied so can’t really generalise to whole target population
