Refers to any actions to minimise or repair the damage to a properly or the environment from the fire or suppression activities

What is Purpose of Ventilation?

A

Improve the safety of people trapped in the building
- Reduce damage to the structure and its contents from heat and smoke
- Provide exposure protection to uninvolved areas or adjoining structures
- Improve firefighting conditions by:
> Increasing visibility in the structure
> Providing a non toxic atmosphere
> Reducing temperature inside the structure

What could you do to limit access and preserve a scene?

A
  • Place warning tape/restrictive tape
  • Rope cordons
  • Place witches’ hats around area or on road adjacent.
  • Tarp area to protect from elements.
  • Single path in and out
  • Disturb area as little as possible
  • Note anything you move
  • Notify Incident Controller of anything unusual (i.e. broken window, forced entry).
