acute asthma attacks where normal inhaler therapy is not working
expiratory wheeze associated with allergies, anaphylaxis, beta blocker overdose, smoke inhalation or lower airway causes.
exacerbation of COPD

salbutamol is a selective B2 adrenoreceptor stimulant drug. has a relaxant effect on the smooth muscle in the airways.
Salbutamol contraindications
none in an emergency
Salbutamol cautions
hypertension, angina, overactive thyroid, late pregnancy, beta blockers, softening of tissues in the bronchial tubes, larynx and trachea, COPD
Salbutamol side effects
tremor, tachycardia, palpitations, headache, feelings of tension, peripheral vasodilation, muscle cramps and rash
If a patient has COPD how long should nebulisation be limited to?

When should repeat doses of salbutamol be discontinued?
if side effects are becoming significant, such as:
tremors
tachycardia > 140 in adults
Salbutamol dosage for 2.5mg in 2.5ml
age 6+: 5mg
less than 6: 2.5mg
