Methods of causing accidents are finite, so in other words the reasons that cause accidents are well known and they repeat

No, they can only determine the cause, suggest gaps in safety and make recommendations

What is an accident?
happens between the time of a person boards the plane with the intention of flight and when that person leaves, if someone dies, seriously injured, or the aircraft receives substantial damage.
What does the NTSB consider a major accident?
121 A/C destruction, or Multiple fatalities or 121 A/C substantial damage and 1 or more fatalities
With regards to the NTSB, What is the party process?
- By invitation from the NTSB
- Go team members are on call
- minimize site deterioration
With regards to the NTSB party process what are the 3 priorities?
#1- assist victims #2- prevent further damage and preserve site #3- investigate
NTSB Investigator in charge (IIC) does what?
- Senior Investigator
- Organizes, conducts, and manages the investigation
