Sacrum Innominate BLT Flashcards

1
Q

Bilateral sacral extension BLT

A

Patient is position supine

  1. Place hand under patients booty and use the caudal palm to lift both sacral ILAs anterior
  2. Other hand is used to gap the SI joint (arm across ASIS)
  3. Instruct patient to take a deep breath and hold it as long as possible
  4. make minor adjustments to the sacrum
  5. Repeat until the movement is obtained

Q

Bilateral sacral flexion BLT

A

Patient is supine

  1. Use the caudal hand to lift the sacral bases anterior
  2. Use the cephalad hand to EXTEND L5 encouraging sacral flexion
  3. Have the patient take a deep breath and hold it

Q

Forward Sacral torsion BLT

R/R L/L

A

Patient is supine

Physician is ipsilateral the side of the sacral base rotation

  1. Use fingers to apply an anterior pressure to the deep sacral base
  2. cephalad hand pushes the sacral base ANTERIOR OR into L5 extension
  3. Test the respiratory phases for the one that provides the most ligamentous balance
  4. Repeat

Q

Backward sacral torsion BLT

A

Patient is supine

Physician is on the ipsilateral side of the sacral base rotation

  1. Use the palm of the hand to apply an anterior pressure to the anterior ILA
  2. The cephalad hand is bridging the SI gaps or flexing L5
  3. Respiratory phases are tested and the patient is instructed to hold the phase that initiates the most movement
  4. Step 3 is repeated

Q

Posterior Innominate rotation BLT

A

Patient is seated and the physician is holding the distal tibias

  1. PUSH up on the IPSILATERAL lef and PULL down on the CONTRALATERAL leg
  2. Find a balance point
  3. Have the patient rotate toward the ipsilateral side until the ipsilaterl leg starts to move upward
  4. attain the balance point
  5. have the patient take a deep breath in and hold it for 5-10 seconds
  6. release and reassess

Q

Anterior innominate Rotation BLT

A

Patient is seated and the physician is in front of the patient

  1. Grab the bilateral tibias and PULL down on the ipsilateral leg while PUSHING up on the contralateral leg
  2. Attain the balance point
  3. Have the patient rotate the trunk to the contralateral side until the contralateral leg starts to draw upward
  4. Attain the new balance point
  5. Instruct the patient to inhale deeply and hold for 5-10 seconds
  6. Release position and reassess
