Sacrum Innominate BLT Flashcards
1
Q
Bilateral sacral extension BLT
A
Patient is position supine
- Place hand under patients booty and use the caudal palm to lift both sacral ILAs anterior
- Other hand is used to gap the SI joint (arm across ASIS)
- Instruct patient to take a deep breath and hold it as long as possible
- make minor adjustments to the sacrum
- Repeat until the movement is obtained
2
Q
Bilateral sacral flexion BLT
A
Patient is supine
- Use the caudal hand to lift the sacral bases anterior
- Use the cephalad hand to EXTEND L5 encouraging sacral flexion
- Have the patient take a deep breath and hold it
- Repeat
3
Q
Forward Sacral torsion BLT
R/R L/L
A
Patient is supine
Physician is ipsilateral the side of the sacral base rotation
- Use fingers to apply an anterior pressure to the deep sacral base
- cephalad hand pushes the sacral base ANTERIOR OR into L5 extension
- Test the respiratory phases for the one that provides the most ligamentous balance
- Repeat
4
Q
Backward sacral torsion BLT
A
Patient is supine
Physician is on the ipsilateral side of the sacral base rotation
- Use the palm of the hand to apply an anterior pressure to the anterior ILA
- The cephalad hand is bridging the SI gaps or flexing L5
- Respiratory phases are tested and the patient is instructed to hold the phase that initiates the most movement
- Step 3 is repeated
5
Q
Posterior Innominate rotation BLT
A
Patient is seated and the physician is holding the distal tibias
- PUSH up on the IPSILATERAL lef and PULL down on the CONTRALATERAL leg
- Find a balance point
- Have the patient rotate toward the ipsilateral side until the ipsilaterl leg starts to move upward
- attain the balance point
- have the patient take a deep breath in and hold it for 5-10 seconds
- release and reassess
6
Q
Anterior innominate Rotation BLT
A
Patient is seated and the physician is in front of the patient
- Grab the bilateral tibias and PULL down on the ipsilateral leg while PUSHING up on the contralateral leg
- Attain the balance point
- Have the patient rotate the trunk to the contralateral side until the contralateral leg starts to draw upward
- Attain the new balance point
- Instruct the patient to inhale deeply and hold for 5-10 seconds
- Release position and reassess
