Sacrum Flashcards
If the deep sacral sulcus and ILA are on the same side, what kind of SD is it?
A sacral torsion.
If the deep sacral sulcus and ILA are on opposite side (i.e. deep right sulcus and left ILA) what kind of SD is it?
A sacral shear (i.e a unilateral flexion or extension).
If both sacral sulci are deep what are the possible diagnoses?
It is either bilateral flexion or extension (a spring test can determine which).
What can a seated flexion test reveal for sacral torsions?
It can tell the axis (i.e a right seated flexion test means it is a left axis, ect). Keep in mind that the axis is opposite the flexion test.
What can a seated flexion test reveal for sacral shears?
It tells which side is dysfunctional (ex. if a right flexion test then a deep right sulcus will mean unilateral right flexion, while a superficial right sulcus will mean a right unilateral extension, ect).
