What are the 7 sacraments?
- Baptism

it is an outward signs of inward grace instituted by Christ for our
sanctification. it is the visible signs of the invisible grace.
Sacrament
it is something we can see, hear or feel which in turns stands for something.
Outward sign
it is the grace that is free and undeserved gift from God through Jesus Christ.
Inward grace
Today the seven ritual sacraments are viewed as:
grounded directly in both Christ, the Primordial Sacrament, and the Church, the Fundamental Sacrament
Jesus is the Primordial Sacrament because:
He is the visible grace of God’s promise of salvation in the Old Testament when he became human through his presence, words and actions. He is the visible image of the Father.
The Church is the Fundamental Sacrament because:
a. it is called to be a visible presence of God’s will in humanity. The Church makes present the living Presence of God in the world.
b. through the seven sacraments, the Church continues
Jesus’ actions of cleansing, strengthening, forgiving,
nurturing, uniting, healing and commissioning.
It is the matter (water, oil, host and wine) and form (words and gestures) are the visible signs that point to the grace they communicate.
Outward sign
__________ from the saving ministry of Jesus of small acts of cleansing, strengthening, forgiving, nurturing, uniting, healing and commissioning. All these acts culminate in His final act of saving human kind by dying on the cross.
Arise
__________ is God’s gift to us to help us to become His obedient and faithful children. By our own efforts alone, we will not have the power to love the way Jesus love. Through the sacrament, the Holy Spirit pours out His grace upon us.
Grace
These are objects, actions, practices, places and the like, that help us become aware of Christ’s grace-filled presence. (CFC 1578)
They are not equivalent to the sacraments since they do not arise from the saving ministry of Jesus, they have been instituted by the Church to help her members.
