What is a sacrament?
A sign of God’s presence in our lives
What is liturgical worship?
Liturgical worship is a structured type of worship where worshippers follow a set format
Define transubstantiation
The belief that during mass the bread and wine turn into Jesus’ body and blood.

What is the sacrament of baptism?
Baptism symbolises welcoming into God’s family.
The effect/God’s presence/Grace: (for baptism)
the original sin is washed away as a sign of God’s loving forgiveness.
What is the sacrament of Reconciliation?
When christians say they are sorry for the bad things they have done by confessing their sins.
What is the effect/God’s presence/Grace: (reconciliation)
Jesus’ presence is felt through the offer of mercy and forgiveness we receive during this sacrament.
What is the sacrament of the eucharist/holy communion ?
Bread and wine turns into the body and food of christ.
Bread is the basic food of life and is a symbol of unity. The wine represents how christ was crushed
The effect/God’s presence/ Grace: (the eucharist/ holy communion)
Jesus’ sacrificial death and his presence becomes real. The priest repeats the words Jesus said on the last supper.
What is the sacrament of Confirmation?
The sacrament of confirmation is is similar to baptism but the person makes a promise and the person makes the promise themselves this time.
The effect?God’s presence/Grace: (confirmation)
God is present through the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit - these will help us to be good christians in our day to day lives
What is the sacrament of marriage?
The couple are “joined together’. Their relationship is blessed by God. rings are then exchanged as a sign of faithfulness

God grace strengthens them to cope with the challenge of married life.
