Define liturgical worship:
A structured, public worship where worshippers follow a set format
Define Liturgy of the Word:
The reading during Mass including the Gospel
Define Penitential Rite:
When we say sorry for our sins at the start of Mass
Define Liturgy of the Eucharist:
When the priest re-enacts the last supper and the bread and wine become the body and the blood of Christ
Why is Mass important to Catholics?
Mass brings Catholics closer with each other
Receiving eucharist allows catholics to move closer to salvation
Catholics have a duty to go to mass each week (they see it as an obligation)
Features of Catholic Liturgical Worship:
Catholics ask for God’s forgiveness at the start
Readings from the bible are said during Liturgy of the Word
The eucharist is celebrated during the Liturgy of the Eucharist

“Through taking the consecrated host we become one with Christ and are united with each other”
Different Christian Worship in different Ways
Some Christians don’t celebrate the Eucharist
Protestants don’t believe that the bread and wine turns into the body and blood
Other Christian churches practise non-liturgical worship, this has no set form
What is Evangelical worship?
Have less formal worshipped they can express their own prayers and thoughts
Often use modern music
prayers are not set by they prayer book
The leader of the worship can choose the prayers and bible passages
