A

not with hands as very fragile/thin

use stick with adhesive adaptor

Q

Burs needed for veneer prep? (2)

A

depth cutting bur -> Comet 834 - 0.3mm or 0.5mm (generally need 0.5mm because veneer + cement/bond thickness)

round ended taper diamond bur -> Technic 856

Q

Issue with non-prep veneers? How prep-veneers avoid this?

A

ceramic overhang at gingival margin can cause gingival problems

prepped veneers - smooth continuous line between finishing line of tooth and veneer surface

Q

Veneer preparation steps

A
  1. Use depth cutting bur to make depth cuts on labial surface ~0.5mm (doesn’t allow to go deeper than this)
  2. Incisal depth cuts (initially do 1-1.3 as polishing at end will take it down more) for ideal reduction ~1.5mm
  3. Incisal reduction at a slight angle to achieve butt finish of ceramic on palatal
  4. Labial reduction using depth cuts as a guide, prep goes all the way to contacts (but dont go through IP), make sure only prep margins can be see when looking mesially or distally otherwise unaesthetic as tooth structure is seen, margin JUST under gingival tissue
  5. Use intermediate speed to define margins and finish/polish

Q

Issue with bevelling or not bevelling the palatal incisal margin

A

bevel - too thin to hold ceramic, if made might fracture off

no bevel - will see thin line of resin between tooth margin and veneer but that is okay as it means there is a good seal
