rules of the road Flashcards
If a traffic signal is not working
come to a complete stop, then yield to traffic as if it were a four-way stop.
A flashing yellow traffic light means
slow down and proceed with caution.
If you are turning right when there’s a steady red traffic light
, you may turn after coming to a full stop if it is safe and if there is no sign prohibiting the turn on a red light.
Pavement markings:Solid lines along the side of the
road show
you where the edge of the road or lane is
located
Pavement markings: solid White lane markings
c means that
you should stay in your lane unless a special situation
requires you to change lanes.
Pavement markings: dashed White lane markings
means that you may cross it to change lanes if it is safe
Pavement markings: solid Yellow lane markings
Solid yellow lines mark the left edge of one-way roads and separate traffic moving in opposite directions.
Pavement markings: dashed Yellow lane markings
A dashed yellow line between opposing lanes of traffic means that you may cross it to pass if it is safe to do so.
in a roundabout, drive around the circle to the right or left? what speed should you slow to?
RIGHT
15-20mph
reversible fucking lanes
There may be signs posted by the side of
the road or overhead. Special lights are often used. A green arrow means you can use the lane beneath it, a red “X” means you cannot. A flashing yellow “X” means the lane is only for turning. A steady yellow “X” means that the use of the lane is changing and you should move out of it as soon as it is safe to do
so.
what is a two-way left turn lane?
its for vehicles making left turns in either lane (like a middle two-way road so you can turn into a shop or something)
they cant be used for passing and can’t be used for travel further than 300 feet
why should you always try to pass a vehicle on its left and not right?
because driver’s side is on the left. so if im in the driver’s seat and you’re passing from the right, I won’t see you coming out behind me
can you drive on the shoulder?
NEVER
WHEn making a right turn, what lane should you do it from?
the right most one! so your turn isn’t too wide and you don;t crash with other cars
RIGHT OF WAY RULES: in an intersection with no stop sign
you yield to the vehicles already there and to those coming from the right
