Rules for Imperatives/Command Verbs Flashcards
Imperative forms of regular (and most irregular)
-er verbs:
Same as regular present tense/infinitive verbs,
with the exception of dropping the -s on the tu form.
The irregular aller also follows the same pattern.
Ex.: (tu) Regarde!
(nous) Regardons!
(vous) Regardez!
___
(tu) Va!
(nous) Allons!
(vous) Allez!

Imperative forms for avoir:
(tu) Aie…!
(nous) Ayons…!
(vous) Ayez….!
Imperative forms for être:
(tu) Sois…!
(nous) Soyons…!
(vous) Soyez….!
Rules for negative imperative commands:
Ne… pas sandwiches the verb as in other negations.
Soften the command form by using
s’il te plaît / s’il vous plaît
to be more polite
