Equality before the law

A

It is unlawful to discriminate against people on the basis of race, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin, sex, and gender.

A

A

A person has the right to refuse to answer police questions unless they are required to by legislation. This means that you have the right to remain silent when questioned prior to or during legal proceedings.

A

The prosecution carries the burden of proving the charge, and guarantees that no guilt can be presumed until the charge has been proved beyond reasonable doubt.

A
