When does an officials jurisdiction begin?
It begins when they arrive on the floor and they should be arriving on the floor 15 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
When is the jurisdiction of an official terminated?
When the officials leave the visual confines of the playing area.
What are the 5 duties of the referee before the game starts
- inspect all equipments
- desginate the timer
- disignate official scorer
- notify each time 3 mins before each half is to begin
- verify with head coach that the team members uniform are all legal and that all participants will exhibit sporting behavior.
What are the referee’s 8 duties during the game?
- designate the official tosser
- administer the AP throw-in to start the 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarters.
- decide whether a goal shall count
- declare game forfeit
- decide on matter where scorer and timer disagrees to correct obvious timing errors
- confer with official scorer at halftime to change the AP arrow
- check and approve score at the end of each half
- inform each team and table officials of the OT procedure when the score is tied at the end of regulation
What are the 5 correctable errors?
- Failure to award a merited free throw
- Awarding of an unmerited free throw
- Allowing the wrong player to attempt the FT
- Attempting a free throw at the wrong basket
- erroneously counting to canceling a score
When must a correctable error be corrected?
No later than the first dead ball after the clock has started - Dead Ball (Error) - 1st Live - Dead Ball Must correct
When must a correctable error be corrected if it’s made during a live ball situation? (canceling/counting a score)
before the second live ball
When can activities (other than flagrant, intentional or technical foul) be canceled
if the error was made during an error for FT by wrong player, @ wrong basket, awarding merited FT
