If the ball or player is touching the backcourt, what is the status of the player?
Backcourt
If neither the ball and player is touching the backcourt, what is the status of the player?
Frontcourt
If a ball is in flight and the player who passed/shot the ball is in the back court, what is the status of the ball while it is in flight? Why?
Backcourt because it retains the same status of when the player last touched the ball
Can the ball touch the front face or edges of the backboard?
Yes, treated as it is inbounds.
If a player bounces the ball on the backboard, is it considered part of a dribble?
No. (4-15-1)
Going from backcourt to front court, what must happen in order for the player to establish front court status?
3 points of contact - 2 ft and ball
List (4) situations when the ball is at the disposal of player.
- When it is handed to the thrower-in, FT shooter
- When it is caught to the FT shooter or thrower-in
- After a goal when it’s available to the thrower-in and the official starts their throw in count
- On the floor at the spot
