Name the clinical manifestations of Rubella
- Usually mild dz
- Generalized rash that spreads from face caudally to trunk and extremities within 24 hours
- General lymphadenopathy (suboccipital, postauricular and cervical)
- Low grade fever
What are the clinical manifestations of Congenital Rubella Syndrome?
- Ophthalmologic- cataracts, retinopathy, glaucoma
- Cardiac- Heart defect, peripheral pulmonary artery stenosis
- Auditory**- most common manifestation causing deafness
- Neurologic- behavior disorder, meningoencephalitis, mental retardation

How do we test for rubella?
Throat swabs, blood, urine, CSF, antibody titer
How do we treat Rubella?
Supportive care, children should be excluded for school for 7 days after rash onset
