Types of things in sentence structure? (Punctuation)

A

Commas- separate items ina list or clause in a sentence

Pairs of brackets or dash- creates parenthesis with means to add information.

Colon (or dash) - to introduce a list

Semi colon - separate complex items in a list (very long list most cases) separates 2 very different by connected sentences

Inverted commas- indicates quotation or speech- used to indicate irony

Examples of sentence structure?

Long sentences/ short sentences- long sentences may mimic complex ideas. / short sentences have impact

Repetition of word or phrase- to emphasise the idea

Question/ exclamation / commands - achive tone example emotive.
