Standing order for adult RSI
A
GCS = 8 w/ RR 8 or >35 OR SpO2 less than 90% on NRB.

Medical Control criteria for adult RSI
A
- GCS less than or equal to 8 with clenched jaw and inability to suction
- Respiratory extremis with CPAP cont.
- Inhalation burns, indication of airway compromise
- Critically ill/severely injured patient with imminent compromise.

Standing orders pediatric RSI
A
GCS = 8, respiratory insufficiency, O2 sat less than 90% on NRB, RR less than 8 or greater than (45 less than 1 year), (40 1-5 yrs), (35 age 6-9)

Medical control criteria for ped. RSI
A
Same as adult + identified difficult airway patient, and cannot tolerate laryngoscopy but can be bagged above 90%

NTI Indications
A
- Primarily COPD and CHF, allowed for CLOSED head injuries with clenched teeth
- SpO2 less than 90% on Pt. who is on 100% O2 by face mask
- RR less than 8 or more than 35
- GCS less than 8 or loss of gag reflex.

NTI Contraindications
A
- Anticoagulants
- Upper airway hemorrhage
- Significant mid-face trauma or laryngeal trauma
- CSF leakage or evidence
