What do we do when surveying
- find height of contour on each relevant tooth
- determine path of insertion
- mark undercuts for each retentive clasp
what is a survey crown
a crown that is built with a rest seat/guide planes into it. it is placed prior to the RPD framework
What are survey crown rest seats made of and why
they are made of metal, because they would be likely to fracture from the rest if they were ceramic

what can you do if you are unsure if your guide planes are parallel when cut into the teeth
take an impression and pour up cast in mounting stone, then check it on the surveyor
can dentures be worn all day
no, they should never be worn 24 hours a day (candidiasis, inflammatory papillary hyperplasia)
what should be done with the denture when the patient isn’t wearing it
it should soak in denture bath at night
how do you clean a denture
with a denture brush and no toothpaste (abraisive)
periodically with a tablet to remove mineral
why do you do a 24 -48 hour follow up
to ensure proper fit and make sure there are no sore spots
