What is the ‘Initial Driver Responsibility’ elements?
A
- Where an accident arising directly or indirectly from the operation of a vehicle occurs to
- A person
OR - A vehicle
- The driver or rider of the vehicle must
- Stop their vehicle
- Ascertain whether anyone is injured
- Render all practical assistance to anyone who is injured or killed

What is the penalty for ‘non-injury’ and ‘injury-death’?
A
NON-INJURY = 3 months imprisonment or $4,500 fine and mandatory minimum of 6 months disqualification. INJURY-DEATH = 5 years imprisonment or $20,000 fine and mandatory 1 year disqualification.

What is the ‘Duty to Report Injury (LTA S22)
A
- Where a crash involves
- Injury
OR - Death
- Driver or rider
- Must report accident in person to
- Nearest Police Station
OR - To an Enforcement Officer
- As soon as reasonably practicable
- And in any case not later than 24 hours after the time of the crash
- Unless the driver or rider is incapable of doing so by reason of injuries sustained by him/her in the accident

What is the ‘Duty to Report Damage’ (LTA S22) ?
A
- Where a crash involved
- Damage to an unoccupied vehicle
OR - Damage to other property
- Belonging to another person
- Driver or rider MUST unless incapable by reason of injury
- Within 48 hours report to
- Owner (driver name, address, rego, crash location)
- If owner can’t be contacted or identified, report to police station or enforcement officer within 60 hours.
