What is Review of Systems? (ROS)
Final component of comprehensive history
*used to document any symptoms the patient may be experiencing or has experienced
How many symptoms needs to be in the ROS?

If there is a positive response in the ROS what happens?
The patient has experienced this symptom
*The provider should explore the same factors as HPI
*If the pertinent positive is already listed and discussed can refer to specific area
EX: +headache see HPI
What goes first in the ROS + or -
Positive goes first
What are pertinent negative?
Symptoms that are not present
*used to eliminate or rule out diagnostic possibilities
*tells us what disease the patient does not have
