- He is impulsive and immature
- Handsome, intelligent and sensitive
- Romeo quickly forgets rosaline and falls in love with Juliet, thus shakespeare gives us a reason to question how real Romeo’s new love is

A
- Shown to be courageous, trusting her entire life and future to Romeo. Has faith in Romeo and trusts him upon hearing news of the fight, regardless of hearing the worst reports on him
- Close to the nurse. However willing to shut her out of her life when the nurse turns against Romeo

A
- Is a Catholic, holy man, however could be argued to be the reason for Romeo and Juliets suicides at the end
- Catholic, so was viewed as suspicious
- Friar is a good friend to Romeo and Juliet, is willing to help them

- Loves wordplay, sexual innuendos
- he finds romeo’s romanticized ideas about love tiresome, and tries to convince him that love is only about fulfilling your sexual desires

- A woman who breast-fed Juliet when she was younger and cared for her her entire life
- The nurse is Juliet’s confidante. This is up until a disagreement near the end of the play
- The nurse can’t comprehend how Juliet wants to sacrifice herself for love

- he loathes montagues

- Romeo’s cousin and thoughtful friend
- he makes an effort to diffuse violent scenes in public areas

He genuinely loves Juliet, however he is not very considerate about Juliet’s feelings and emotions
- At the start of the play he challenges a typical father in Elizabethan society, however as the play progresses he increasingly fits better with a traditional elizabethan patriarch
