- Dante illustrates the difficulties of growing up in contemporary Britain —> when he goes into the shop he is accused of “living off benefits”
- He is initially presented as immature and self centered. “Did he think I’d hold it in my arms and suddenly realize just how much I loved it?”
- Dante struggles to accept his role as a father “I don’t believe you”
- Dante is presented as someone who cares for his family - when adam gets beaten up “I’ll hunt him from hell itself if i have to”
- Dante is presented as mature and a developed character towards the end —> results in family being brought together “we were a family and we were together”. “At that precise moment, I was happy”
