Patricians were the higher social class, and the Plebians were the lower class. When the Plebians rebeled, they earned more rights in Rome
Punic wars
Against Carthage. Through three major wars, Rome gained control of North Africa, most of Spain, and Sicily. This gave them trading rights over the entire Mediterranean.
Julius Caesar
He became dictator for life by defeating Pompey, a general just like Caesar. He was doing good for Rome, but was murdered by the Senate because they didn’t want a dictator.
Octavian/Augustus
He was a great emperor that did many different things. He is wampum for the Pax Romana and improving Roman. Boundaries and education
Cincinnatus
The Senate made him dictator for defending the city from an attack. He willingly gave up power after. He was a farmer.
Constantine
He changed the future of Rome by moving the capital 850 miles to Byzantium. He named it New Rome. This made Rome the capital of the Western Empire, and Byzantium the capital of the Eastern Empire. This lead to Rome’s downfall.
Romulus and Remus
A princess gave birth to them. Their uncle was worried about them gaining power, and told his men to drown them. Luckily, a she-wolf rescued them and cared for them. At the spot they were rescued, they made a village (Rome). Romulus killed his brother, so he was king.

People should live by a set of laws

Wealthy Romans had a lot of leisure because slaves did their work
Poor Romans were often slaves in the farmland of the rich
