Middle and wealthy people who became rich by contracting with the government for supplying the army, building roads, and supplying goods. Used crafters and farmers and payed them less.

Carthaginian General, tries to take over ally lands of Rome in Spain. Romans come to attack he rides elephants to Northern Italy to avoid it. Battle of Zana, losses.

Tiberius and Gauis, wanted to limit amount of time in legions, limit land ownership, and increase jobs for poor, senate killed them for that
