Knowing about the types of stress in the workplace is very important as it not only affects the individual but also their performance at work which ultimately affects the company and the people they work with.

The lower you are in the hierarchy the more stressed you are and the more likely you will get heart disease

If there is an application for a promotion going on in the workplace, some workers might feel that they need to impress employers and work longer workers which might make them stressed
What does the work-life balance suggest?
It suggests that people should balance their work and home life which would result in less stress and better psychological wellbeing.
Define the role of conflict and give an example?
Role of conflict involves an individual being put in a position that requires them to behave in a way that they know is not in their best interest. For example working lots of overtime may mean that you do not have much time to spend with family.
What study backs up the concept of the role of conflict?
Pomaki et al (2007) found that role of conflict was responsible for emotional exhaustion, depressive symptoms and even some physical illness in a study of hospital doctors.
What does the level of control suggest in the workplace?
The amount of work an individual has to do can increase their workplace stress , therefore having too much or too little can have similar effects.
What did Breslow & Buell (1960) found about workplace stress on the hours’ employees worked?
They found the employees who worked more than 48 hours a week were twice as likely to develop coronary heart disease (CHD) than those working 40 hours.
