What is the definition of Robbery ?
Defined under s8 of the theft act 1968 as an offence where a person steals and immediately before or at the time of doing so in order to do so he uses force on any person or seeks to put any person in fear or being subjected to force.
What is a completed theft ?
If any element is missing then D cannot be convicted of robbery ( Corcoran V Anderton)
What is the idea of force ?
D must then use force on any peeps. Or seek to put any person in fear of force

What can force be used against ?
Against property if it is taken with force (R V Clouden)
What must the force be used for ?
In order to steal immediately before or at the time of doing so can be a continuing act but not just to escape (R V Hale)
What is the men’s Rea for Robbery ?
It is the men’s rea for the theft.
What must the D intend to use ?
Force to steal.
