List of annunciators displayed on EFIS

  • DGR …..
  • RNV MSG …..
  • APP …..
A
  • AMBER, right upper corner of the EHSI degraded performance of the GNSS, associated with UNABLE
    RNP or UNABLE APPROACH message on MCDU
  • AMBER, right lower corner of EADI message is displayed on the MCDU
  • CYAN, left upper corner of EHSI Illuminates 2 nm from FAF to indicate that HT1000 meets the RNP for approach ( GPS primary sensor for navigation, predictive and current RAIM pass the check initiated automatically by GNSS, actual navigation performance is 0.3nm or better and HSI scaling is 0.3nm )

List of minimum equipment for RNP APCH …..

A
  • Navigation Database Navigation database valid
  • GNSS GPS the primary sensor used for navigation in POS REF page
  • 4 CRT’s ( Composite mode of the EFIS does not
    comply with the functional criteria required for RNP APCH because DGR, RNV MSG and APP annunciators are not displayed )
  • FD and/ or AP (Lateral LNAV and vertical V/S modes have to be operative; FD and/or AP are required
    to limit flight technical error )

Q
  • RAIM should be available ….. min before ETA until ….. min after ETA at destination;
  • In the event of a predicted loss of fault detection of more than ….. , the flight planning should be …..
A
  • ….. 15 min
  • ….. 5 min; …..revised ( delaying the departure or planning a different approach type);

! As an alternative method of compliance, RAIM information can also be obtained from special NOTAMS or other approved tools, software. !

Q

In addition to the normal preparation, PF has to take into account the following:

A

Check the correctness of the loaded procedure by comparison with the approach chart; the procedure has to be checked as loaded from the navigation database, NO modification of the procedure is allowed; the check must include:
• the waypoint sequence;
• tracks and distances of the approach legs, inbound course and mileage of the final approach segment;
• vertical path angle;

Q

In order to meet the stabilization criteria for approach, the max cross track deviation XKT is ….. and max vertical path deviation is …..

A
  • 0.3 nm
  • 75 ft
    ! Still, it is recommended to keep the deviation XKT below 0.15 nm after established on final approach track. !

Q

The following failures affect the RNP APCH capability of the a/c:

A
  • Complete failure of AFCS ( loss of AP and FD)
  • CRT failure
  • Failure of RNAV system components resulting in UNABLE APPROACH or UNABLE RNP messages on MCDU, DGR alert or lack of APP annunciator on EHSI
  • Complete failure of GNSS system

Q

In case of loss of RNP APCH capability, notify ATC …… and inform about the subsequent action:

A

….. “UNABLE RNAV APPROACH”

  • continue visually, if visual reference established and runway in sight;
  • Go-Around, if visual reference not established ;
  • revert to a conventional approach procedure, keeping in mind that the new approach has to be stabilized by 1000 ft AGL ( take into consideration holding or orbit, respecting minimum safe altitude, until the briefing for the new approach is complete).

Q

SPECIAL CASE: Missed approach procedure based on RNAV associated with complete failure of GNSS or degraded performance of GNSS (actual navigation performance worse than 1.0 nm in terminal area, UNABLE RNP message on MCDU).
In this context GNSS must ….. be used for guidance during go around.
Following actions must be performed: …..

A
  • NOT
    • Advise ATC ‘’UNABLE RNAV’’.
  • Use company contingency procedure, if provided, and advise ATC.
  • If no contingency procedure is available, request vectors, use all conventional navigation means to maintain situational awareness and terrain separation.
