How do you calculate a sign test?

A
  1. Increase (+), decrease (-) or no difference (=) in the conditions and data?
  2. Add (+) together, then (-), the least frequent sign is the calculated value ((of S))
  3. Calculate N by Number of participants minus any (=) identified in step 1, then find critical value by checking if the test is one-tailed or two-tailed, and degrees of freedom (usually 0.05)
