What are all the parts of the drainage basin ?
source, confluence, tributary, watershed, mouth, drainage basin.
What are the three river processes ?
Erosion, transportation and deposition.
What is hydraulic action ?
the of force the river against the banks can cause air to be trapped in cracks. The pressure weakens the banks and gradually wears it away.
What is abrasion ?
Rocks carried along by the river rub and scrape along the river bed and banks.
What is attrition ?
rocks being carried by the river smash togetherand break into smaller, smoother and rounder particles.
What is solution ?
Soluble rocks are dissolved into the river.
What is suspension ?
Fine light material is carried along in the water.
What is saltation ?
Small pebbles and stones are bounced along the river bed.
What is traction ?
Large boulders and rocks are rolled along the river bed.
Where are upper courses located ?
In the mountains where the source is.
Where is the middle course located ?
Where meanders are formed which are a swiggle patterns for a river.
Where is the lower course located ?
Near the mouth of the river.
