A continuation of baroque, late baroque, connected to revival in Catholicism

Purity of the classical, a new classical era (Sproul Hall)
How did the Risorgimento start and what was its objective?
Political unrest/French occupation supports revolutionary ideas, new political state formed/territory created, needs to defeat pope to gain Rome (center of everything)

He declares the kingdom of Italy in the Risorgimento

The Risorgimento’s central symbol, part of the military campaign

The Risorgimento military leader, gives king authority to Emmanuel II

it celebrates the new state without the church
Why do many post-Risorgimento monuments face in a certain direction?
They are facing the St. Peter Vatican, shaming the church
