Risk Management Flashcards
1
Q
Total Risk
A
The sum of identified & unidentified risks
2
Q
Identified Risk
A
- Risk that has been determined through various analysis techniques
- The first task of system safety tis to identify, within practical limitations, all possible risks
3
Q
Unidentified Risk
A
- Risk not yet identified
- Some unidentified risks are subsequently identified when a mishap occurs
- Some risks are never known
4
Q
Unacceptable Risk
A
- Risk which can’t be tolerated by the managing activity
- It is a subset of identified risk that must be eliminated or controlled
5
Q
Acceptable Risk
A
- A part of identified risk that is allowed to persist without further engineering or management action
- It’s difficult, yet necessary responsibility of the managing activity
- Made with full knowledge that it is the user who is exposed to this risk
6
Q
Residual Risk
A
- The risk left over after system safety efforts have been fully employed
- It is not necessarily the same as acceptable risk
- Residual risk is the sum of acceptable risk and unidentified risk
- It is the total risk that is passed on to the user
7
Q
What is the goal of risk management?
A
To identify safety related hazards and mitigage the associated risks
8
Q
What is the 3P model of ADM?
A
Perceive: Identify the risk, given the circumstances for flight
Process: Evaluate the impact of those circumstances on flight safety
Perform: Mitigate the risk by implementing the best course of action
