Everybody has their own insecurities and vulnerabilities.
Low self esteem
Insecurity.
Life choices may also put them at risk.
Drink
Drugs
If a person doesn’t have adequate coping mechanisms or isn’t very resilient then mental ill health is at a higher risk.
Risk associated with family.
Family history of Mental health disorders.
Abuse.
Neglect.
Divorce.
Family breakdown.
Unemployment.
All lead to higher risk of developing Mental Ill Health.
Social risk factors.
Feeling cut off from family&friends.
Feeling cut off from the local community.
These can lead to feelings isolation and rejection. These can deteriorate a persons mental health.
Risk associated with Education.
These years can have both a positive and a negative impact on a person. If a person has a positive outlook on their school years and got adequate grades can have a positive impact on a persons mental wellbeing. Whereas if a person has a negative outlook due to being bullied or inadequate grades then this can have lasting consequences for a person later in life.
Risk associated with life events.
Unemployment. Bereavement. Sudden illness. Being assaulted/abused. Negative and traumatic life events can have a negative effect on a persons wellbeing.
Risk associated with finances.
Unemployment. Redundancy. Business failure. Mounting debt. Worries about costs of living. All lead to higher risk of developing Mental Ill Health.
Risk associated with community or local environment.
Prejudice. Discrimination. Violence. Crime. Drug use. Drug deals. All negative risks towards developing Mental Ill Health.
