Warrant
warrant, in law, authorization in writing empowering the bearer or bearers to perform an act or to execute an office.
Probable Cause
reasonable grounds (for making a search, pressing a charge, etc.).
Exclusionary Rule
When evidence can be excluded from trial if it was unlawfully obtained.
Good Faith Exception
allows evidence unlawfully obtained by police into court if the police officer acted in good faith when he violated the rights of the accused.
Public Safety Exception
The public-safety exception allows into evidence an otherwise suppressible statement made by a defendant relating to information that the police needed at the time it was made in order to protect the public.
Inevitable Discovery
allows admission of evidence that was discovered in an unlawful search or seizure if it would have be discovered in the same condition anyway, by an independent line of investigation that was already being pursued when the unlawful search or seizure occurred.
