Examples of citizens using the European Court of human rights when in disputes with authorities

A

-in 2017, ECHR ruled in favour of a group of citizens regarding how the Russian government acted in a siege at a school where terrorists had taken 1000 hostages. 330 civilians died when the armed forces stormed the building. The ECHR found the government had not taken sufficient precautions based on prior information about terrorists and used unnecessary force

-Russian membership of Council of Europe suspended after invasion of Ukraine in March 2022
