- The church needs to teach us about the Bible

- Their conscience is the voice of God
- St Paul teaches that our conscience should be the final part of making a moral decision
- It comes directly from God
Why do some Christians not use their conscience?
- People have used their conscience to justify doing bad things
- The church and bible have more authority
- If people followed their conscience not laws the world would be chaos
What are situation ethics?
Moral decisions based on what the most loving to do is
Why do Christians make moral decisions using situation ethics?
- Jesus followed SE
- They follow Jesus’ commandment of “love your neighbour”
- Christianity is based on love not laws
Why do some think that it is wrong to follow situation ethics?
- The Bible is Gods word and should be followed exactly
- We can not ensure what the most loving consequence is
Why do Christians make moral decisions using authorities?
- They would usually follow the church to apply the Bible teachings
- They may go to the church or look at a bible to see if SE will be correct
Why are human rights are important?
- You may live in a dictatorship
- May not have any rights
- You could live in a democracy
What is the human rights act?
This is the right that people have freedom, liberty and rights
Why are human right important for Christians?
- Everyone is in the image of God so people should be treated well
- God created life to be sacred and it should be protected
- They make Christians not disadvantaged
Why can human rights cause problems for Christians?
- Some rights go against Gods will
- They feel as though the rights are against church teachings
Why do Christians take part in elections?
- Gives you a chance to affect new laws
- This means they can have an opinion on rights
Why do Christians believe that they shouldn’t vote?
They feel that it will not make a difference to the outcome
