Active Euthanasia
Effectively assisted suicide, but a more medical approach. A lethal injection. Illegal here
Passive euthanasia
The removal of life support or other treatments. This is legal
Voluntary, non-voluntary
Voluntary means the patient has chosen to die, via active or passive euthanasia. Non voluntary would be a baby or a PVS patient. Killing a baby is always illegal, PVS might not be.
PVS
Permanent Vegetive State. Worse than a coma.
Abortion
The act of killing and removing an unborn baby from its mother, for various reasons.
Deuteronomy
This says choose life, and is a Christian argument for sanctity of life
Sanctity of life
This is the belief that all life is sacred and should never be removed
Quality of life
This is the idea that the ability to live a nice life is more important than being alive
Reasons for abortion
Bad financial situation, to young to give birth, abusive or uncaring father, lack of father, caused by rape, mental health.
Viability
This is the point at which the child can live separately from the mother, with aid, but hasn’t been born yet. Occurs at 24 weeks. Used as the English point at which the child gets the right to life
