TU-28 Grip Hoist (General Information)

A
  • Hand operated lifting & pulling machine designed for heavy duty professional work.
  • Operated by an arrangement of 2 pairs of grip jaws enclosed in casing that work like 2 hands alternate seizing the wire rope.
  • Heavier the load stronger the grip
  • Never expose wire rope to temperatures beyond 212 degrees
  • Anchoring the Grip Hoist with sling is preferred. (Green or Yellow sufficient)
  • NEVER use additional means of leverage on handle other than provided handle; Length & strength of supplied handle has been calculated to operate machine within its capacity.

TU-28 Grip Hoist (Overload Protection)

A
  • The forward lever is connected to the crankshaft by means of 3 overload shear pins.
  • Pins protect grip hoist from severe overloading.
  • In general, spare overload shear pins found inside forward lever under rubber plug; however on RS3 found in Mickey Mouse tin container in Compartment # 13 Tool Box

TU-28 Replacing Shear Pins

  • Use gear puller to remove forward lever from crankshaft, if no gear puller available telescoping handle can be used.
  • Remove broken pins, grease the crankshaft, place handle back on crankshaft and drive home pins
