TU-28 Grip Hoist (General Information)
- Hand operated lifting & pulling machine designed for heavy duty professional work.
- Operated by an arrangement of 2 pairs of grip jaws enclosed in casing that work like 2 hands alternate seizing the wire rope.
- Heavier the load stronger the grip
- Never expose wire rope to temperatures beyond 212 degrees
- Anchoring the Grip Hoist with sling is preferred. (Green or Yellow sufficient)
- NEVER use additional means of leverage on handle other than provided handle; Length & strength of supplied handle has been calculated to operate machine within its capacity.
TU-28 Grip Hoist (Overload Protection)
- The forward lever is connected to the crankshaft by means of 3 overload shear pins.
- Pins protect grip hoist from severe overloading.
- In general, spare overload shear pins found inside forward lever under rubber plug; however on RS3 found in Mickey Mouse tin container in Compartment # 13 Tool Box
TU-28 Replacing Shear Pins
- Use gear puller to remove forward lever from crankshaft, if no gear puller available telescoping handle can be used.
- Remove broken pins, grease the crankshaft, place handle back on crankshaft and drive home pins
