  1. Cool Climate - Green and citrus fruit, hi acid, dry, also med or sweet
  2. Mod Climate - Citrus and stone fruit, hi acid, dry or off-dry.
  3. Other flavours:
    1. Late Harvest: tropical fruit, dried fruit, honey, botrytis.
    2. Age: honey, smoke, PETROL
    3. Smoke, Honey, tropical fruit, mineral
  4. Usually unoaked or vinified in old, neutral oak
  5. Susceptible to botrytis, which can aid the production of intensely sweet, complex wines
  6. Whilst subtle petrol-like mineral notes can emerge as desirable complexing element of aged Riesling, dominating ‘kerosene’ aromas now widely regarded as avoidable fault.
  7. To distinguish between other varieties which has locally been referred to as Riesling (such as Crouchen Blanc, Welsch Riesling and Sémillon) this variety is sometimes referred to as ‘White Riesling’ or ‘Rhine Riesling’

  4. Hardy, can suit a wide range of styles from dry to lusciously sweet)
  5. Great potential for ageing
