- Cool Climate / Late Harvest - Honey, nut, earthy, tropical fruit, spicy, med acidity, full bodied, hi alc, off-dry/sweet (can be dry)
- Moderate Climate / Early Harvest - Neutral, delicate, pear, med acidity, light body/alcohol, dry
- Other flavours: Botrytis, Late-harvest (dried fruit, apricot/honey), Age - spice/wood.
Notes:
- Usually unoaked, or vinified in old/neutral wood, new oak for some premium GER wines
- ‘Pinot Gris’ may indicate richer, more complex f-bodied Alsation style. ‘Pinot Grigio’ indicates lighter neutral Italian style
- ‘Pink’ Pinot Grigio can take advantage of tinted skin, but sometimes small amount of red added.
- Tokay d’Alsace seen on older bottles (pre 2007)
